Hodges Gardens Star Party
Hodges Gardens State Park
Florien, Louisiana, USA
The Baton Rouge Astronomical Society is sad to announce that our annual Hodges Gardens Star Party has been indefinitely suspended. The State of Louisiana, in its infinite wisdom, has chosen to close Hodges Gardens State Park and return the property to private control. We hope the private owners will find a way to re-open the park, but we have no reason to expect they will. At one time, Hodges Gardens was the largest privately owned botanical gardens in the US. Now, it appears, Louisiana is prepared to abandon it to history. As of this time, we have been unable to find another suitable location for our event.
